Roof
Andy Goldsworthy is my13th artist research piece. The piece that I am reviewing is Roof at first sight looks to be a room filled with rocks that are stacked in a uniform manner so that they escalate to create sort of half a circle. Most of Andy's work is not meant to be permanent art pieces due to the fact that he usually deals with earth art. This is also earth art but is handle in a totally different matter as in it is indoors. Andy used a team of workers to help sculpt the piece, it took nine weeks to build. The concept for the sculpture came from the artist's interest in the origin of Washington building stones. It is currently held at the National Gallery of Art. I personally like it. I remember tiling my bathroom and imagine this must be something like that except doing with sculpture would be to the 20th level of some sort.
